SURF-RA

SURF-RA

The SURF-RA is a simple SUrvey of cardiovascular Risk Factor in patients with RA. The main aim of the SURF-RA is to systematically examine the recording and control of CVD risk factors in patients with rheumatoid arthritis to increase the awareness of the increased risk of cardiovascular disease in these patients, and of the need to record and control risk factors.

The SURF-RA is a large international, multicentre, survey including centres from 24 countries across the world: Europe, Scandinavia, Canada, USA, Kirgizstan, China, Russia, India and China. We aim to include as many centres as possible. In Norway we have included 11 centres.

The SURF-RA is currently an EAPC (European Association of Preventive Cardiology) flagship project through Professor Ian Graham’s position as the leader of the mother survey SURF-CHD (coronary heart disease) and as the Secretary-Treasurer of the ESC (European Society of Cardiology).  SURF-RA is led from the Preventive Cardio-Rheuma clinic, Diakonhjemmet Hospital, Oslo, Norway by cardiologist and senior researcher Anne Grete Semb.
